What we do
We have a simple aim: expert water safety that elevates every event. Our team brings together professional training and a genuine passion for supporting people in open water. We follow the standards set by recognised water safety bodies, and every decision we make is focused on creating the safest possible environment for organisers and participants.
Our ethos blends technical skill, strong planning, and an understanding of what makes a great experience in the water. By combining these strengths, we deliver event water safety that is reliable, confident, and participant-centred. We believe water-based participants are safest when they feel supported.
Alongside event cover, we use these same skills to create guided swim experiences across the South Hams. Our knowledge of tides, conditions, and local landmarks allows us to lead memorable swims that are both safe and inspiring. Happy participants are safe participants, and creating that experience is what drives us.
Meet the team
Charlie Pearson Director
Charlie has built his career around keeping people safe in and around the water. With four seasons working as an RNLI lifeguard under his belt, and years of experience in event water safety, he has led teams across a wide range of open water events.
His strength lies in assessing complex water venues, planning practical safety setups, and coordinating large teams of lifeguards and rescue craft. He brings a calm, organised approach to every job, balancing clear decision-making with a friendly, approachable manner.
Alongside event work, Charlie has guided swimmers along the Devon coastline, using his local knowledge to help people explore the water safely and confidently. He has also supported first aid teams at large festivals and sporting events, adding depth to his operational experience.
Will Keetley
Head Lifeguard
Will has worked with six lifeguard agencies around the world, gaining a wide range of skills and perspectives along the way. By bringing these experiences together, he offers a well-rounded and dependable approach to managing lifeguard teams at River to Reef Water Safety.
A two-time winner of the UK National SUP Series and a copper medallist in the European Men’s SUP Sprint, Will’s background as a competitive athlete gives him a strong understanding of what participants need to feel supported during events.
He is known for being friendly, confident, and clear in how he communicates, helping create a positive and reassuring environment for both teams and participants. Will is an essential part of our water safety team.
Ella Hassall
Operations Manager
Ella keeps the business running smoothly behind the scenes, handling everything from administration and logistics to marketing, communications, and day-to-day organisation. Her work ensures our lifeguards have everything they need to deliver the highest standard safety and participant care.
She manages our social media presence, coordinates event planning, maintains our kit and equipment processes, and brings structure to every part of our operation. Her organisation and attention to detail help keep events efficient, professional, and well supported.
You’ll often see Ella on event days making sure everything and everyone is where they need to be, capturing content for both our channels and event partners, and keeping the whole operation running to plan. Ella plays a central role in shaping the experience we deliver.
